The Guinness Storehouse

One thing you’re sure to do plenty of in Ireland is drink Guinness. Lots of it. And what better place to do so than the Guinness Storehouse itself?

This easily became one of our favorite tourist attractions – not just in Dublin, but everywhere we’ve visited so far.

Their 7 story converted grain house offers a very informative and interactive look into not only the making of this Irish classic, but the history of the family and their marketing and lessons on tasting and pouring the perfect pint of Guinness. (It’s more involved than you’d think.)

If you’re planning a trip to Dublin, make sure you have the Guinness Storehouse on your list.

Here’s what to expect:

1. Buying your tickets.

We recommend booking your tour ahead of time on the website. You’ll not only secure yourself a tour time, but possibly score a discount.

We would also suggest going as early as you can. You might think you won’t want to do a beer tour at 9 am, but trust us. It’s better to be there before the crowds. We got their at 10:30 and it was already starting to get crowded.

2. Choosing a tour.

There are a couple of tour options. We opted for the most basic one and were not disappointed. It was mostly self guided with the exception of learning how to taste and pour a proper pint of Guinness. We spent a good couple of hours there, and adding in the beer tastings, we felt the basic tour was a good deal.

3. What to expect.

We were honestly surprised by just how much we enjoyed our visit here. The Storehouse is 7 stories, each of which takes you through different aspects of the Guinness family, their beer, their brewing process and their marketing – all leading up to the Gravity Bar on floor 7. Here is where you can drink your perfectly poured (by YOU!) pint of Guinness while looking out at a panoramic view of Dublin. The tour is incredibly easy to follow and offers plenty of interactive activities for those who learn by doing (🙋🏼‍♀️)

Whether you’re interested in the brewing process or intrigued by their family history, you’re sure to come out an expert. In fact, you’ll even have a certificate to prove it. Ours is going to be framed and hung with the rest of our accomplishments. 😂

If you didn’t already have the Guinness Storehouse on your bucket list, add it now. You won’t be disappointed, and if you are we’ll buy you a Guinness 😉
